Akomplice x Masta Killa

November 30, 2010

This holiday season sees the Akomplice brand team up with Wu-Tang Clansman, Masta Killa, for an interesting collaboration. I guess I’ve been so used to seeing shirts over and over so this is a great idea for the grown hip-hop head.

Here’s what they say:

Akomplice is proud to announce the release of “The Pen Is Mightier Than The Sword” collaborative endeavor with Masta Killa of the legendary Wu-Tang Clan. A follow up to their first Wu Project with Raekwon, this next-level piece emphasizes non-violence and the power our words can wield. From Charlamagne’s quill that composed the Magna Carta to Thomas Jefferson’s Declaration of Independence, there is no denying the everlasting impact of the pen to paper. A perfect example of the inherent truth behind the saying “The Pen Is Mightier Than The Sword,” Masta Killa has traveled the globe and made a living demonstrating the strength of the written word. The collaboration includes both a t-shirt and a pen, and will be a limited one-time release, available worldwide at many fine Akomplice retailers. Be sure to check out Masta Killa’s “Things Just Ain’t The Same,” the first single off the upcoming album Loyalty is Royalty, releasing early next year. Click here to purchase the single on iTunes.

This Kid Is Better Than You

Throw away your brushes and Emily Carr degrees cuz if you didn’t understand depth and shading at the age of 3 then you’re not a natural.

I mean, seriously. Damn.

November 27, 2010

Don’t let the name/code confuse you. This is a simple design for a space saving world.

Yes, a desk with integrated speakers and subwoofer. Leather trim. Piano lacquer. And tuck away your cords in one of the legs.

Oh yeah, $1300.

I’m a sunglasses whore. I treat em real bad too. Sometimes I break them just so I can get new ones. By no means, tho, am I like the Bawss. I’ve realized that I just don’t have the cash for such a stupid hobby.

But fuck me. I think I need to recalibrate my taste with these killers. RetroSuperFuture Winter Collection 2011:

M&A Andrea: A nice combo of contrasting materials. Real classy looking. Harvard would prolly give me a degree just for wearing these.

New Winter Colours: Not sure of the model name but ya can’t deny the sickness. Seriously requires bollocks to pull a pair like these off unless you were born as Cee-Lo Green or a ninja turtle.

The Crystals: Bright and barely there. If Clark Kent wore these, then he woulda given his identity away pretty damn fast…moreso.

Francis Havana Glitter: There’s one problem with RayBan wayfarers…everyone and their grammamas own a pair. They’re giving them away in Cracker Jack boxes now. These Glitters, tho, are waaaay better/nicer.

As I flip thru the randomness of the web, searching for hard evidence to actual pieces I’m trying to write, I came upon a childhood fave:

I hear that Cookie Monster is trying to get a feature on Saturday Night Live but I’d back Grover over any muppet, any day. This was simply my favorite recurring sketch on Sesame Street:

And he don’t stop. Just last month, he came out with this:

Alright, back to work.

True Tales from Da Eastside

November 24, 2010

So today in the hallway, while I had my laundry basket in hand, one of my strange neighbours speaks to me. He says “Today is a good day.” I didn’t know what he was on about, it was cold, I had to go up the street to do the laundry, but he persists “Today is a good day, the charges against me got dropped.”

What do you say to that?

I didn’t say much just shrugged my shoulders and walked down the stairs.

In other news the old Chinese guy who owns the laundromat remembered my name and added me to his list of regular customers.
